61 Dynamic shift linkage setup??
I have a 61 Dynamic that is pretty much original. I When I bought it the carb linkage was (and still is) kinda jury rigged. The kick-down linkage is completely missing. It is a stock 394 4 barrel with a hydramatic. Lota fun to drive but I always shift manually and would like to fix that problem. Thanks for your help in this problem.

You need a 1961 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual and some special tools to adjust that linkage. The manual will show the linkage and adjustment procedures.
Go over on aaca.org Olds forums and search Hydramatic, then look for dlh61olds who is Dave Holt in Colorado. He had some of those adjustment tools made and may still have a few. He's been over here before too under the same ID, so may be able contact him thru here. He has 61 Oldsmobiles and understands them well.
You can do it by trial and error, but it's time-consuming. The adjustment needs to be correct for the trans to work properly, and misadjustment can cause transmission failure.
