What color for shift linkage on TH350 w/console shift?

What color for shift linkage on TH350 w/console shift?
What color was the shift linkage originally on a TH350 w/column shift under the hood to the trans? Zinc Phospate? Silver Zinc?
What about the steering shaft under the hood? Zinc Phosphate? Black?

From: from Wisc, then Texas, then Kansas, now back to Texas,
so far .... I found,where it listed where NOT to paint , such as fuel line ends, shock shafts , etc. It said nothing about the shifter linkage, but it also said that when it does NOT refer to an item , it is not painted. So I would guess the linkage would be the color of the metal material when it was made ????????????? I'll keep looking...........
