Just wondering if anyone could tell me the original finish/colour of the shift rods on a 70 Cutlass muncie four speed? Also, after cleaning the transmission case, is there any product guys use to keep the aluminum from oxidizing?

 

They were dark gray phosphate. Try satin clear coat from a rattle can if you get a lot of aluminum oxidation in your area.
