Weatherstripping help

Hi I have a 1971 cutlass s and I was wondering if they make replacement weatherstripping for around the front and rear windshields or if you can just use any old weatherstripping? Thanks

These cars use tape weatherstrip to seal the stationary glass to the body. Any good body shop supply will have it. There are a couple versions of it and glass will have to be removed and the body channel cleaned to get a good seal.

A glass shop can do it for you cheap enough.

If you're just getting some water leakage they use a rubberized caulk sealer to fill gaps between teh glass and the seal tape, but they'll need to be sure what type of tape is in there as some of it is incompatible.

Just to clarify, there is no weatherstripping around the windshield and back window on these cars. The glass is glued into place using a butyl rubber tape adhesive. FYI, if you are getting water leaks here, expect to find the dreaded pinchweld rust, which is all too common on these cars.

if you are talking about the inside window area and yours are not ripped dye them properly or get decent used ones and use a industrial heat gun to meld back to shape.
