Long time Lurker Here.

Been a lurker on this site for about 3 years. Joined the site because I had just bought a 72 Cutlass convertible for my wife. The car actually belonged to a friend of mine in high school, who sold it when he went off to college. I knew the area where he sold the car, but not to who he had sold it to. About 4 years ago I asked around, in the area he sold the car back in 1979. I found out the people who bought back then, still had it. I contacted them about selling it and at the time they weren't ready to sell. I asked them if they ever decided to sell it, would they give me an opportunity to buy it. About a year later they contacted me and I was able to purchase the car. The car looked just like I remember from High School, except it had been sitting in their garage several years without being driven and was pretty dingy looking. I cranked the car and drove it home. Since then, I have replaced all of the interior, except the door panels ( been on back order for 2 years now ), redone the trunk and a bluetooth stereo system with a couple of subs, and had the top replaced. Oh, and polished and buffed the heck out of it. Bought some new 17 inch wheels and tires and just recently lowered it 2 inches.

I got a lot of useful information from this site while I was redoing the interior and hydraulics for the top. Several knowledgeable people on this site. Anyway I thought it about time to post a pic of the car. Someone took this pic last year at Cruisin the Coast.

Cool story, congrats to you and the wife. It's really rare a car is found that was sold in 79.
