1972 W30 Manifold Question
Boys: I'm having trouble with a couple of my manifold ports. I'm not sure what this port on my aluminum manifold is for? It's right beside the rad hose, passenger side. I have circled it in yellow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx a whole lot boys, very helpful. Hopefully my mechanic and I can get this '72 back on the road ASAP. Stay posted
Btw, my Drivetrain is automatic 350TH. Any other confirmation on blocking off this Port if auto trans? Thx!

All 72 W-30s had the hose routed as the picture you posted, regardless of trans.
A non W-30 442 with manual trans would also have it routed the same.
A non W-30 442 with an automatic would not have it routed this was.

Welcome. The PCV port in the intake provides a port into the crankcase volume, and is the same as the grommets in the valve cover for functionality. It has nothing to do with the AT/MT question. Olds used this on W-30 motors and 4spd motors that had the dual ventilation PCV system where both valve covers had fresh air tubes to the air cleaner and the PCV valve was mounted to this port. This had more to do with the cam used in those engines than the transmission type.
I strongly suggest that you immediately get a factory Chassis Service Manual and make sure your mechanic READS it. Good luck.

Actually, I have to ask...
Why waste your money on a (presumably) repro W-30 intake? The TH350 tells us that the car isn't a real W-30, nor even a factory big block car and the W-30 intake provides no performance benefit over the cast iron intake (the runners are the same). A good aftermarket intake would be a better choice, and you won't have to plug that PCV port.

Guys, thanks again for the great input. I will be using the PCV port, and linking it properly.
As for the manifold, it came on the engine when I bought the car. I did not buy an aftermarket carb and intake due to budget but may in the future. It's no secret that the car is not a W30 and I'm not in creation of a clone.
You guys have been more than helpful and I appreciate the help along the way.
Thanks again!
