1970 442 W30 Valve Covers vs non-W30

Any difference in these? I just asked in a for sale thread, but I wanted to crowd source the answer here in case nobody saw that. Thanks!

Thanks for the information. I plan on hanging onto everything that is on the car now, from the covers to the tires. If this wasn't a family car then I would sell items I wasn't using, but in this case I don't feel right doing so.

All 1968-72 BBO valve covers for A-body cars are exactly the same, with the non-symmetrical "notches". All SBOs and non-A-body BBOs got the unnotched covers. 69 H/Os got chromed notched covers.

Is the H/O in this pic below a 1969? If so it is very possible these covers might be from that if they look like the chrome covers they used.

Well I left the car in PA. Starting to wonder if the engine was swapped. Guess we will soon see. Someone mentioned the shifter being without the locking console. So I'm guessing something might be up, but I'm 50/50 at this point. Should have verified numbers when I was there, but to be honest, I wasn't sure what I was looking for and would have had to reference this site to find it. Soon.

they look like 69 H/O covers but more pics of complete covers and inside pics with baffles would confirm it

Any thoughts on the shifter and the lack of locking center console? I just searched Google for interior pics of the 1969 H/O and found that is the same setup in this car. Did the 1970 442 W30 come with this setup for the shifter or was that 1969 H/O gear only? He owned both cars so this wouldn't surprise me if switched.

Sorry, I know the thread is supposed to be about valve covers...but I have two people here that probably know the answer to this and need your expertise.

That is the setup out of the 69 H/O and not available on the 70 so he switched them.

Ok then...another question, the "F" heads that are on it...was that 70 W30 only?

*Update* Think I found the answer to my question, they were "D" heads on the 69 H/O. Let me know if incorrect. Thanks.

Thanks rktolds!

I've learned so much about the car since then. How it is an original 4 speed, non-console car, has the original engine, heads, intake, distributor, alternator, HD radiator, and 3.91 rear. I even got lucky enough to find the broadcast card under the rear seat. That doesn't happen every day and this journey has made me respect those who have to find and restore these components. Big time!

no the small block VCS have no indentations
big block VCs do for clearance on the drivers side
(brake booster) and another indentation for the
cars A/C if 455 powered .
