1972 Cutlass Disc brake conversion rim issue

Hi all,

I just went thru a disc brake conversion on the rear with a right stuff conversion kit. Due to my lack of research I found out that the ssii's (15x7) do not fit and rub \ bind with the ssii's. I have the original 10 bolt drop out rear. At this point I am not sure if I should go bigger on the rims or use a spacer. Anyone have a recommendation?

If I was to go bigger rims \ tires all the way around anyone have any recommendation?

I am running a semi pumped up 455 with a 6 speed richmond. There is a 3.08 posi in the rear.

Thanks for your constructive input.

Your problem is that not all 15" rims are the same shape on the backside. SSII/III wheels use the same stamped center disk (with the five holes) for both 14" and 15" wheels. This means that the wheel hoops for 15" SSII/III wheels have a deeper "drop" in the center and thus are essentially the same as 14" wheels as far as clearing (or not clearing) disk brake calipers. A different design 15" wheel should fit fine.
