They look like the brighter one. It really shines, the dull one was taken in a dark garage so thats the camera flash. Pics of motor in the car are truly accurate.

Myself and Steve Minore always use Fusick's Bronze for the 400 motors. It looks good and I have never had an issue with any judges at any shows. I tried the rustoleum before its cheap and easy to obtain but the shade if def off quite a bit plus it does not hold up to oil and other chems like gas residue. I never tried Bill Hirsch but again I live in CT so Fusicks is nearby and it has always worked for me in the past.

I think I will bit my words "BY THE END OF THE MONTH" It may be closer to early May. Sorry boys. One hiccup after another, mostly machine shop issues (like not drilling my crank deep enough for the input shaft). It will be up and running real soon.

Here are some updated pics, hoping to fire her up tom, gotta finish misc items on engine, install reverse light hookup and harness, and install driveshaft. Sorry but the last couple of months have been very difficult with some personal issues but we are almost done. If you read this whole post you will notice we started like a roaring forest fire and died like a match, funny how that happens. All in all its been a fun project and coming near completion.

Sounds like when I built my old 66. 80% done in 3 months and about 9 months to do the last 20%

You are doing an outstanding job. Keep it up.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. Yea short of the 3 month break I took once we got the engine and tranny in, its the little stuff that always takes the most amount of time.

Yes, we started her on Sunday late night and everything went perfect. Cam Break for 20+ mins and oil pressure, temp all perfect. Sounds real nice and the Comp XE274 has a nice lope. We have had nothing but rain for the last three days and should be taking her for a ride tomorrow. I will update with pics and try to put a video on youtube as soon as possible.

Here are some pics just prior to startup. Colored wires on the drivers side is just from where we mocked up the tach. Those will obviously be cleaned up. More to come.

confused...

I can't believe you sell your car!
At that price it's a steal in my opinion! Especially with the drivetrain it has! Wished I could afford it
Whats the "new project"?

I'm happy for you that you've finally found your "true love" you can build
Would like to see pics, too! You might as well create a new Major builds and projects thread for us to follow your progress

Hey Boys. I thought of selling Basil in search of a L69. Still no luck I thought I had one lined up but seal feel through. Bought a 70 W30 basket case in stead and it will be stored till I can get to it prob many years. Well in the meantime I will be pulling my engine out and either building a monster 455 or studding my motor top to bottom for a nitrous kit, haven't decided yet.

I think you should buy one of the W30 shroud & tricarb setups on Ebay right now, and make the car into a W30 recreation track car (its easy to dream big when you are telling someone else how to spend their money!)

I would consider doing that if it was already a 442. I just need to change so much stuff to make it right. Maybe I will create a one and only F85 executives sleeper f85 with tri carb that would be interesting

she sounds good sal. Screw the nitrous why dont you just add a nice BDS 871 blower to that beast. Some traction bars and slicks and that will be one scary car.
