When you are home and have more time can you tell us more about you sons' 68 Ram Rod

 

This is it,no more tomorrows. The one sure thing Ive learned from the last few days is that you cant be sure about anything in these auctions. Cars that you would think will bring good money dont and cars that shouldnt bring big money do.At this point I dont have a clue what will happen today. 69 442 W30 very wrong car brought 62500.00 67 Gto modified decent car brought 85000.00. Ive had a lot of positive feed back,at this point I dont have a clue whats going to happen.The positive is Ive meet a lot of great people and reconnected with some old friends and have the positive support of friends and family so no matter what happens its all a plus and it was a great week.

Your car was the nicest Olds there, by a long shot....
I cant believe the 69 W30 sold for that much either, as I spent some time going over it also, and agree with your assessment....

Good Luck as well. What is such a great part of this car's story is that quality work can be done well in a short period of time - provided you have the knowledge, drive, and a committment to a goal.

 

Looks like Greg's car did $47,500 K and didn't meet reserve. He might get a buyer before he leaves though. I think a lot of cars sell outside the auction.

 

Back home after a long hard week. I have someone who is interested and will get with me in the next week or so,hes from right here in the area. Learned a lot from this experiance and will apply it to my next one.Was an interesting week, wife got hit in the truck,car didnt sell and woke Sunday to a flat tire on the truck. Prices were all over the place,Im still confused. Cars that should have sold didnt and cars that shouldnt have sold went for big money.The 69 W30 was completly wrong and sold for 62500.00 many other crazier prices. Bright side, I meet a lot of very great people. Also Found a 69 W30 post car from a fellow I sold a 72 W30 to in 98.

I think each of these cars deserves it's own thread. JMO.

 

I feel like the inconsistency that you described has been what I've also observed at the Mecum auctions we've attended. If you would have slapped a repro OAI assembly on it with some W-30/W-32 stickers on it or some crap and left the history of the car vague (even if none of it made sense), chances are two people probably would have bid it up.

Hope it sells for you post-auction. Please do start some threads on the other cars, looking forward to them.

I agree, Greg... I'm not either.. it sort of ruins the hobby in my opinion.

Hi Greg, I just read through this whole thread again, lots of things make more sense now that I have my car apart, like the yellow fuel line clips (one of mine still has yellow on it)

This thread will help me big time, but some Freemont vs Lansing differences I need to be careful of:-) (driveshaft?)

It was great to meet you and Al at MCACN and to see this beautiful car!!!!!
