Finished the interior,Assembled and hung the front and rear bumpers. The turn signal assemblys are original and in perfect condition as are the rear backup light assys and license brkt. Correctly stripped the hood and decklid with the Y73 GT stripe. Finished the rear brks. Ordering the exhaust, red line spare and a few other pieces to complete the car in the next couple days. The guy from Mecum is coming tomorrow to look at the car,and we are going to figure out when and where to take picks for their web site. Only 1 month to the auction.

Mecum came to the shop today to see the 69. We will try to get picks done for the website by next weekend. He said the quality of the car ranks up there with the best he has seen, and believes the car should bring what I want.
Got the passengers wheel house installed, wont do the drivers side until I bleed the brakes. Cant seem to get the w/wiper motor to work, replaced it with an NOS,replaced the switch, replaced the fuse and still doesnt work. Have to test the wireing tomorrow.Geg

Got my paperwork today from Mecum. The car is lot # S66 and will run on Saturday May 16th about 1:00 Pm. Exhaust is coming tomorrow along with a few other items. Traced the wiring on to the w/wiper motor, has power to motor so it seams the NOS wiper motor I bought is bad.

Thanks Eric, the car runs on Saturday so you can be there to cheer it on Yes Bob the plates go with the car.
Got the exhaust installed today it fits GREAT,sounds GREAT.Just have to weld the tips. Finished aligning the front bumper and wasnt completely satisfied with the drivers fender alignment, now it fits perfect. Still have a bunch of small details, more buffing and a few other things to finish but it should be ready for pics on Tue or Wed.

I just got back from Greg's shop. Here are a bunch of pictures I took. It's almost done. Just needs the wheels installed. Greg was doing a final "buff" when I showed up. Still needs some dusting and final tweaks, odds and ends completed.
Like people always say. "pictures do not do this car justice" you have to see it in person to appreciate the level of detail and the quality - in starting with such a great car to begin with. The "lope" of the engine idle sounds awesome, the doors and trunk close just the way you'd expect a new 69 to be. Really a piece of jewelry.

Take note of the optional deluxe seat belt retractor with the release button. Original door panels. Non-factory rear speakers were left in from prior ownership. But check the original red finishes under the package tray area.
Trunk mat is repop.

group 5 On the underside of trunk lid, you're looking at original Crimson paint, original factory stickers, NOS weatherstriping with the factory markings. Yellow and Blue chalk mark.
Driver's door, original tire pressure tag.

group 6 Mock up of the wheel/tire and dog dish cap. Alignment of Grill, T3's, bumper. Shot of underside with all the correct finishes, tags, etc. Greg said that just about everything that was not perfect was replaced with NOS parts, no reproductions.

Bob just about said it all,I still need to finish some small stuff but for the most part its done just small assy & detailing. I installed the shocks, got the tires balanced after Bob left. The shocks arent spirals but are painted the correct color. Went to transfer title and the Secretary Of State wouldnt put actual milage on the title a even though the Montana title said actual, kinda pissed me off but I have a copy of the Montana title. Thinking about contacting the guy I got it from and sending him a certified milage form and have him fill it out and send it back to me.

If the weather holds out and I finish some small stuff is the day it moves on its own power. If everything is ok then I will load it in the trailer and take it to Mecums and get some photos shot for their web site.

That car looks fantastic!!!!! I sure hope there's some people bidding at Mecum that appreciate a super nice Olds!! Not to nit-pick your awesome resto but those rear splash shields on your plastic wheel wells are suppose to be gently pushed up over the frame, not hang down. Thanks for sharing your build!! Good luck at Mecum!!!

Took it out today for its maiden voyage. Realy runs good!!!! Drives beautiful, and looks great out in the sun. From a dead stop it will roast the tires and comes on even stronger thru the mid range. Sent some pics of it outside to Bob, he will post them soon. Goes straight,no pull or anything funny, but I will get the front end aligned and the air charged next week.

In many ways Greg made this look easy. All I can say is he worked long hours, 6-7 days/week for over three months. This is probably the quickest beginning to end, "build thread" you'll see on this site. And I can't wait to see the professionally done pictures on the Mecum site next week.
He needs another project.

Absolutely beautiful car, great craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing all the pictures and restoration details with us. Hope it does well at Mecum for you.
Seeing the results is motivation to get going on mine, though I have a looooooong way to go.
