Jim Thanks, I was wondering which one to use? I think I read somewhere you could use dot5 ? but know nothing about the silicone based stuff and would it void the warranty etc...

I am VERY VERY happy with the ease the system went together, I did have a small issue with the axle flange but an easy fix.. could you post a pic of your proportioning valve setup, still wondering if I should just mount under the booster or go through the hassle of mounting it down where the distribution valve was.

I mounted mine on the drivers side of the booster, mounted the lines first then where they ended up was where the valve went and I too had to massage the axel flanges not big deal, I did replace the pads as they would squeel when warm at slow speeds, brk applied. just could'nt handle the attention at intersections, also pick up a disc brk (piston) tool for the rears, they are the wined out and in type save your self the headace...jim

Thanks for the advice Jim, can you tell me which pads to order not really sure what application these calipers etc were originally designed for.. hoping to finally get the differential back in shortly, I think I finally decided to go with the moog cc501 springs for the rear, after all the thinking and deciding, going back and forth, researching, deciding then undeciding, I end up back where I started LOL... go figure...

The Latest...

Well haven't posted in awhile, been kinda busy taking care of things outside my restoration,

have kept at it as I could, and will post more pics as soon as I can,
but Basically all that has been done is I have positioned the rebuilt diff ready to be installed, and I sent the 4 speed out for servicing.

the 4 speed was in overall excellent condition with no major wear or damage, however a small parts kit was procured and all new bearings and synchros were installed by my engine builder, while it was there i asked him to glass bead the bell housing, so all of that is now complete, I felt he gave me a decent price on going through the tranny and parts and labor totaled 400 usd, no charge on glass beading the bellhousing.

I have now gotten my daughter off to college so I should be able to get back at it a little harder now, I have to say the initial projects consumed a lot of my intended budget with the upgrades.

so far the progress has been

Engine Rebuilt

4 wheel disc Conversion

Rear End Rebuilt

Tranny Rebuilt

next step is to order the Damn Rear Springs!!!

Luckily this part will be easy!
Get the insulators too (Moogs are two per pack - did not know until I ended up with 4) and install the springs in the right orientation. I could not believe how easy it was.

Dyno at BTR was pushed to 09/26. Engine, trans and rear install to follow. Should be done by mid November.

I'm having Brian Trick perform the surgery.

Steering Wheel Repair..

Well been pulling together parts as I find them, getting ready to get back in the garage if it keeps warming up,

but in the meantime planned on doing soem stuff that I can do inside in my workshop while the garage is still cold.

I found a 3 spoke simulated wood wheel, I bought a new hub, and got a horn button here, the wheel has the usual cracks in it, and I have read the threads here about the repair process so I will give it a shot.

this is the wheel I purchased

now...

I read the threads and the guy used some carbon/coal like powders scraped into the epoxy, I called pc products, they make the kit that eastwood sells, and I ordered some pc-7 and some pc-11.

After speaking with a tech rep, I asked about the pigment kit that is used with the PC woody ( I know who ever heard of a pc woody!) the wood repair kit, he said I could used the pigments with either of the other products they come in earthtone pigments
http://www.pcepoxy.com/our-products/...e-pigments.php

so I will be experimenting with these, and if your interested posting my findings, but it made sense with the previous threads thoughts of not having to paint the wheel and blending the colors to that kind of swirl effect on the plastic.

while I was shopping...

I also came across this vintage shifter **** for the 4 speed, mine has the standard white ball with the pattern on it, I also have a brown one with the pattern on it, but since I have a console with the pattern on it, I needed a ball without one, when i saw this one, with the same stainless detail as the wheel I grabbed it, it is a cool looking old shift ****. IMHO

paint for the column..

I guess I need to find a source for interior paint, as I want to repaint the column etc before I reinstall it, also are the areas to check in the column that are prone to wear? anything that stands out while I have the wheel and hub off?

Look at the 70 E heads with large valves or the Ga heads with large valves flow rate difference between these and the C heads is not much and would not be noticeable on a street car. Lots of these around

Steering Wheel Resto

ok back on track, I picked up a steering wheel on fleabay, I had a gennie olds 4 spoke sport but found out that was for 70' and later, I can't afford a gennie 3 spoke 69 sport wheel, but since I am thinking along the lines of a 69 H/O convert Restomod? whatever I looked at old pics of 68 and 69 H/o's and saw one with what looked like a simulated wood wheel.

These are NOT cheap either, but found one with some cracks at the right price on fleabay

here is what i started with

I have...

used my dremel tool and a reinforced cut off wheel to widen the cracks down to the metal ring in most cases, there were also a crack or two that did not go all the way around and some that were going side ways, I then used a burr to create a vee so there was something for the epoxy to grab on to.. I wiped it down with lacquer thinner and have scuffed the surround areas with some 60 grit paper
