70 Cutlass S Build
Gotta Like shiny new paint! There is still another coat of clear to go on, and man is it going to be shiny! The body has been block sanded once, and will get another block sand, and then hopefully paint!

I hear ya! I wanted it black, but then i didn't, but then i did, and then i didn't, and then i did lol. There's now going back now!
You're not far from the look you were aiming for in your avatar. Very impressive. Great dedication to the build. Ummm, if you want, I'll store if for you in MY garage......
I have a couple of comments...."Black is beautiful!" and "Once you go black, you don't go back!"........
.....awesome! Do you know what brand paint he is using? I'm assuming he is using waterbourne(Canadian spelling!).....if you can get some specific product #'s, it would be interesting!

Well i see that your losing interest in painting your car black now... your welcome lol

I imagine there's gonna be a couple of feather dusters or swiffers in the trunk of that beauty.
I think the secret to shiny black paint is to never let it leave the garage! lol
Stopped by the shop today and the inside of the trunk was finished with the spatter paint, fenders were done, ad so was the trunk lid. The body is supposed to get painted on Friday, but we'll see.
Just ran across this thread...........man, oldzzy, all I can say is WOW! Awsome job.
I've been throwing around the idea of a "body-off" on our Ralleye Red car for a number of years. Now that it's been retired from the track, that might just happen.........and looking over your project is just adding fuel to the fire
P.S. If you every make a trip up to "the Bend" to watch some Drag Racing.........drop by our pit area, I'd love to "shot the breeze" with you.

Hey Dave, i go up to the Bend quite often on Friday nights to watch the street cars, and test n tune. I have looked for you a couple times, but haven't had any luck finding ya with your car. I have always liked your car. Hope ya don't mind me posting these!

Boy, those pics were a few years ago
.
You can find us still in the same location @ the Bend......on the fence at the finish line. We don't usually do the Fri. night deal unless we are trying to work through some issues, etc. We just get set-up for the weekend and do some visiting with friends. That's probably why I've been so elusive
Well don't give up trying to touch base with us, we are there every weekend that has the "Thunder Series Points Event".........it's probably best to try coming up when some of the fast cars are there (PMRA, IHRA Nat's, or one of the ONDR deals) It's a LOT more interesting than just watching us Bracket Racers
........ Regardless, just drive up to the front gate, tell them at the gate that you are crewing for us, and drive in and park @ our pit spot.
Bring the Cutlass if you get it done, the ONDR (Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racers) are having a couple of events this summer up there, usually have a pretty good size car show, as well as Nostalgia race cars ('73 & earlier)
going done the strip.

Well the car won't be on the road this year. I still have to do the motor, so that will have to wait till i save up a few more bucks! I will try and make it up on a Sat at some point. I would probably have better luck seeing you in Sarnia as i am always driving through there to go to my mailbox in Port Huron lol.

While i am still waiting for the car to come home i have been working on the small stuff. The small stuff still seems to take time tho lol.
I bead blasted the reverse light housings and the front parking light housings. The outside of the housings is painted dull aluminum, the inside on the parking light is bright aluminum, and the inside of the reverse light is painted gloss white. The bulb connectors were bead blasted with the housings, and then i just cleared them with a satin clear.
