I test fit the taillights and window trim the bumper I’ll mess with this weekend, I will say though these nos quarters fit so tight there is only a little play by the trunk gasket channel and maybe 1/8 of adjustment by the doors. Everything fits perfectly, the quarters were expensive but definitely worth it
It’s been a minute since I posted any progress I’ve got the passenger side quarter weld on and I’m working on the package tray piece that connects quarters and trunk not sure what that piece is called. As I m going through the metal work I’m always continuing to buy parts and trying to look ahead, I’m currently looking for 2 14x6 ss1 wheels in mint condition or nos for drum brakes. If anyone knows of any please contact me. Here’s a couple pics. I did test fit taillights and bumper and everything fit great
Well whatever that panel is called I got it at Ron s house off a parts car. With spring pretty much here I’ve been working on the honey do list lately. I did manage to wire wheel and clean inside of the car, also got the manual trans hole welded in place. Today with the nice weather I got the cars outside and added 28 more lights to my shop ceiling. Next thing in line is to clean up some plug welds and star prepping the car to spray epoxy on everything. I used Eastwood rattle can epoxy on the roof but will be spraying everything else. My goal is to have everything in epoxy by the end of May. I have to build a deck for the wife between now and then as well.
Thanks Steve, I try to get at least 2-3 hours a night in the shop and like 6hrs a day on the weekends. I got the poster at olds nationals this past year on the last day.
I haven’t posted anything in a minute so here’s a quick update, I dropped off my transmission to be rebuilt this week and I’m dropping off the rearend next week to be rebuilt. My brother and I are going out to Ron’s place on Friday to pick up some more goodies, I’ll post pics when I get back. As far as the car goes I started stripping panels to get ready for epoxy I started with the roof since it had the most amount of work involved. I’m using an orbital sander, 40 grit and 80 grit paper. Once I’m done with that I’ll use an etching acid from Eastwood then a rust inhibitor then epoxy. The other panels are gonna be easy to strip. I bought this product called after blast from Eastwood, it seals the raw metal for couple weeks before you spray epoxy
Happy Easter everyone, my brother and I made the trip to Indiana and I scored a lot of great parts. Everything I got was NOS.
- clutch fan
- 2 driver side mirrors
- oaiair scoops
- tail pipes with chrome tips welded on
- 14x6 wheels with center caps and retainers
- a set of front fenders in the box with a packing list to Berejik Motors
- set of oai hoses
I ended up getting 5 14x6 wheels 3 are drum brake 2 are disc brake im looking for 2 drum brake wheels in mint condition or NOS, i would trade my 2 disc brake ones or just buy whatever works
The tailpipes and scoops was really cool to get both are hard to find so are the fenders, but its crazy that the tail pipes made it 40 years being stored.
It’s been awhile since I posted any updates, been busy getting ready for graduation party and my honey do list. But I did manage to get my transmission dropped off for rebuild, dropped my rearend off with JD Race and Restoration and dropped my engine block and heads off at the machine shop. So while I’m running around getting ready for our son’s grad party we still are moving forward with the build. I’ll post pics when I start getting stuff back.
Got my rearend back from JD Race and Restoration, it got blasted new bearings and seals. My original gears and posi unit were in great shape so that was a big bonus. Check out the pics
Ok I’m back at it,setting up the frame to make rollin chassis. Here are some pics of the rear, i blasted the rear sway bar and prepping it for paint. I did manage to score some nos lower trailing arms at Lansing
It’s been just over a month since my last post so let me get everyone caught up, I’ve got this chassis turned into a roller mounted the body and all the panels. I’ve got roughly 40 hours in workin the gaps and latch adjustments. I’m currently putting all the trim on and hopefully getting the bumpers and front end put together this week. This way there aren’t any surprises after it’s painted. Once this is completed I’ll take trim and bumpers off sand her down to bare metal and it with epoxy. Here are some pics
There’s a lot of mile driven to get these panels. Quarters, fenders, deck lid,and rockers came from Indiana. Hood came from Minnesota, driver door from Florida and passenger door from California. Definitely learning a lot on getting everything to line up.

What firewall did you use? I have been told the available firewalls are more of a Chevelle application.
Thank you.
kevin.
Thank you I appreciate it, I got the firewall from Parts Place it lined up perfectly I only had to modify the wiper motor hole. It didn’t quite line up.
This weekend I got the bumpers on and finally got my trunk lid gaps as close to equal as I could get. It’s exciting that it’s starting to finally look like a car. My next step is to pull all the trim and bumpers off and start sanding her down to bare metal. I have a couple minor dents to pull then I can start prepping for epoxy. My new goal would be to have the car painted around Christmas. I’ll probably be getting my engine block and heads from machine shop in next couple weeks. Tell me what you guys think of my pics from this weekend
Ok I got the trim and bumpers off and started sanding of the E coat, I got half the car done between Saturday afternoon and Sunday. I used 80 grit to remove E coat blew off the panels then cleaned it pre paint cleaner then followed that with Eastwood After Blast, that will buy me about 3 weeks before we spray epoxy on it, using that product im told helps with preventing flash rust. Even though the cars are in a controlled environment I’m trying to lean on the safe side.
Got the rest of the car sanded down, I’m gonnna work on the doors with hammer and dolly to get some of the dents out. I’m not that happy with my door gaps so I’m taking everything off to get those right, then reassemble and prep for epoxy. I bought PPG Omni epoxy this was recommended by a guy in my Oldsmobile chapter that owns a body shop. Some updated pics for you guys
