Paul, the documentation that supports the dash pot is for A/C cars (1970) is found ASM Section 6-1, page 127. Hope this helps.
I guess I may have just assumed with the dashpot? I dont know my way around the ASM as well as some others. I use this W30 car as a good example because it does look like minimally altered and good example. Note the dashpot? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...bile-442-w-30/

1970 442 W30 4 speeds used the dash pot. The citation in the assembly manual mentioned is in the wrong area and is referring to cruise control items. Here is the correct area. Refer to “TS” engine code. Page 6-73

Hey Joe and thanks for your clarification on the dashpot discussion. In addition to the page you reference, there is further clarification found at Section 6, page 29, the right-handed illustration, which states both the SMT and the AMT 455 CID engine for the A-body cars came equipped with the dashpot asm.
Well thats good for me then!
This site is great for this stuff, it taps into the minds of everyone as a collective to get the right answer. Joesw31 thanks for enlightening us in regard to this dashpot situation.
Voltage regulator or radio capacitor? I'm not sure what I'm looking for? I cant find this exact capacitor on any of the major suppliers. This connects under the dash on my 70 since I dont have a voltage regulator on firewall. I'm thinking radio capacitor but the ones I see dont have the connector on the end.
This weekend Ive been putting engine compartment together along with clutch linkage, brake lines. I got my rally pac senders installed, carb linkage, wire clips and brackets. I installed gas tank, core support. I took apart my gas pedal and detailed it also with a sandblast and phosphate coating, just needs to be put back together. I also hung the RF fender today. It's hard to get these perfect for me but I think it looks good. The car is starting to really look like something. I'm looking forward to getting the side stripes done along with a final coat of clear. Right now I'm trying to get as much done in engine bay area so I'm not leaning over fenders just asking for trouble. Gonna focus on other fender then head light harness, radiator and shroud next.

Thanks guys. While this project has been a lot of work from the beginning, It really feels good to be putting things together for the final time and dressing the old girl up once again for a new life.
Got the radiator installed along with headlight harness, headlights and horns. The lower radiator hose is way off. I got it from Fusicks. Anybody have issues with the lower? The radiator shroud I think is NOS? I bought it off here years ago. I also phosphate coated and black oxide coated more hardware.
Continued with some more stuff today: I got the hood latch assembly installed, Rally pac, speedometer/cable, rear speaker and temporary drive shaft. I had this rally pac restored by the clock doc probably some 25 yrs ago? They did a great job when they were in business.
I started to clean the undercoat from the original air dam. The good thing is that the undercoat preserved the plastic, the bad thing is, it's a pain in the *** to clean and I still have a ways to go. I have some more of these but they are all date coded and I only have one other 70 one to choose from so it's a process to make it look good.
Gonna try and bleed the brakes, adjust the clutch next and then start the process to start the motor.
Tim, I knew you are from there so this is good for you if you have a need. It seems they wait to get a bunch for re-chrome and then take them to NY somewhere probably every 6-8 weeks? Smaller stuff looks like it's done in-house. I wouldn't hesitate giving them a shot on a shifter handle or something. I dont know if they restore pot metal but they do have a website for info.
Hey Paul,
Great progress! WIll have to stop down and see it in person! Yes, NE Chrome does send their bumpers to Sandy's Bumper Mart in New York. I was going to bring several sets of bumpers I had to NE Chrome on a Saturday. The guy informed me to "get them here by 0600, as the truck leaves to New York". I then reverse engineered what he said and discovered Sandy's.
For those of you in Mass, RI and CT- I have another project that I have to get the bumpers replated.. When the time comes, if we can get ~ 15-20 bumpers to rechrome, Sandy's gives a discount (10-15%)..... Just an FYI.
If you have a local dry ice blaster, they can clean your air dam in seconds. I pulled the staples on mine and scrubbed both sides of the rubber with the carpet cleaning brush on the DA.

Sandy's Bumper Mart is local. I actually have not dealt with them personally, having avoided them based on experiences others have shared with me.

thx Jimmy, I will check around here but I’ll be surprised if I find one.

So after probably 40 years I'm guessing, the car is once again alive and breathing! I topped fluids off, adjusted clutch and after a couple days I got the brakes to bleed. I primed the carb, connected the battery and it fired right up. I have some exhaust leaks but everything is only hand tight, especially the driver's side so its to be expected. I really like the sound, it’s like music to my ears.
I chased an electrical short with the dome light for a day or so also. Thats another story but if anybody gets a new dome light housing be aware the whole thing is chrome dipped and ends up conducting electricity FYI. Its now time to get the side stripes and trunk done along with interior but I'm getting down to a short list.
Thx Joe. Sharing the experience is part of the journey for me. I get to give back whatever someone gets from this in return for all the stuff on this site that I have been able to see, talk about and learn. Hopefully I don't screw this up as I get closer to completion.

I'm doing one now. I purchased car for 29K all #s matching and started my concourse restore. I'm at 96K and probably another 20K left. Trying to get it ready for Corvettes & Muscle Car show this November in Chicago. If I can be of help let me know. Where is you get you water pump.
My block tag is 05A. I am looking for a 404847 water pump with a date code between 40 and 100

Thx for the offer Joe, I'll keep you in mind. As far as the water pump goes, I bought it from a member on here a couple years ago and had it rebuilt. I saw Rickw30 has a couple for sale on here. I forget date codes though. Thornton sells them also and a couple on EBay. By the sounds of it, your car seems to be very nice, I’d like to see what you’re up to.
