Not sure I'm completely understanding your alignment setup, ....are the 3/16" flat stock "shim" pieces just sitting on the sissor jacks or are they welded to them? Care to elaborate further on the proceedure.

Nice job on the entire project by the way, very impressive!

Thanks guys!

Dave, the 3/16" straps just sit on the rocker panel and scissor jacks, the hi power magnet holds the in and out on the quarter panel. No striker is installed and hinges are loose. I use the jacks to get the rocker/door gap then I just slide the doors on the straps to where I want them for the quarter/door gap and tighten up the hinges. It usually takes one or two minor adjustments after that.

Fenders are mounted and hood is shaved down to a consistent thickness for the dzus rail surface and rear trim. Looks like I am going to have to add some width to the hood. It would be nice if they made the hood without the flange and a bit oversize so the end user can trim it. I will permanently mount the dzus rails and drill the hood after paint.

Got started on the core support. I started with a rough sketch of how I think it will go, I'm sure things will change during fabrication. The center of the lower bar, between the frame mounts, will be cut out later and is only in place for alignment purposes. Landing the headlight and center grille mounting should be tons o fun.

Jeez, I keep hearing stories of winter happening but, have yet to see it. We usually scale back to 40 hrs or less this time of year due to weather but, due to the lack of winter, we are still cranking out 70+ hrs a week. Anyways, I finally got the core support done. All mild steel coming in at 24 lbs. If I'm not mistaken, the bare factory support is around 40lbs or so.

love the rad support. I often wondered why more people don't try and lighten them up,,,,maybe even make an alum one to get some weight off the nose.

Thanks guys.

I've got the front end together last night for the 501st time and, great success, everything landed in the right spot. It's probably not that noticeable in the previous pictures but, the bottom of the radiator is kicked forward about four inches...Not the greatest for weight distribution, however, I need this room for the blower intake ducting. I am also going to revise the front of the blower bracket to move it back ~0.750" back toward the engine. Obviously the bumper and hood still need a final fit. Uhg, the radiator has a twist in it, this will bother me until the end of time.

I also received my Christmas present on Friday. It's a complete Strange 9" rear, TRZ lower control arm mounts and coil over mounts. I have been on the fence about the 12 bolt for a bit now, would it have worked....Yes, until it doesn't and I really don't want to do a ring and pinion on the side of the road. With that said, I am just going to sell the 12 bolt for what I have into it which is a significant discount from what it would cost if built today. If anyone in driving distance to northern Utah is looking for a stout rear end, hit me up.

Not much but, a little bit....I'm done with the housing. The 9" changes things a bit, for the better, I gain approximately 1.250" of spread over the 12 bolt. I now have a spread window of 13.5"- 9.750" vs 12.250" - 8.5" with the 12 bolt. As usual the Coil over bolts will be changed to AN hardware. I also took care of an ankle biter....trunk prop rod.

Really enjoying your craftsmanship here,
and living vicariously through you! Your work is inspiring.

My damaged achilles and my spinal issues running down my leg has made it where I haven’t been able to do anything this whole winter on our car.

Thanks Flemming! My patients is starting to run thin.

At the end of the day, I'm trying to put together a car that will be consistent, looks good and is responsive to changes. I have paid close attention to the problems that arise on the drag and drive events and I'm trying to eliminate those issues as I build the car so that I am not chasing my tail after the car is running.

If you want to do drag and drives, shoot for 8.50 or 10.0, depending on where the car fits, class-wise. Unless, you want to shoot for a 5.xx average.

For some of us, the victory is just finishing. I ran 11.50s in an 8.50 class. The new car will be 8.50 cert, but only plan on going 10s. The 67 doesn't have any bars.

Yes, My "test drive" will be the 10.0 class. After that I turn it up and Run the 8.50 class, I can't afford the maintenance to go faster.

You nailed it, All I want to do is finish with a decent average....That is a HUGE win in my book.

I can't wait to see what you do with the new car!

When are you shooting for a debut? I'll at least come cheer! The whole drag and drive experience is like no other. Top notch people, great drives, racing, good food,etc... it really can't be beat!

I'm looking forward to it, hopefully I make a 2027 event, work schedule has just been relentless.

Let me know if you make it out west again, we can put you up for a night with all the beer you can drink! You pretty much drove right past us when you did Sick 66.

And a little bit more...

9" is squared in the car, upper coil over brackets are made, ARB is relocated, Parachute mount is tacked together. Still need to do a bit of bracing and finish welding it all in. Rear bars are set for a 45" I.C. and 130% AS.

WOW, I had forgotten about this thread. You have really accomplished a lot- excellent work. It's amazing how good that car looked in the beginning pics. And then finding so much hidden rust! Just goes to show that digital pics can't be relied on. Go man Go!
