Excellent job, looks great.

Looking back at some of your earlier pictures, did you have sound deadening mat under all the carpet or just the small rectangle in the driver's foot well?

Brian
There was a small rectangle spot under the drivers feet.

Car is coming together. What did you spend on the powdercoating? I assume you blasted it prior to sending it off?

Thanks

Buddies of mine own a powdercoat business (Pro-Finish Powdercoating) and they did an excellent job. I did get it sandblasted 1st and then they did their magic. It cost 300 bucks I think. They prime and paint it inside and out. I had all my suspension, cross member, springs, sway bars, misc bracket done also. In my eyes it is well worth it.

Just stabbing away at the engine compartment. Interior is completely done except for the headliner, underneath the car is done except for the exhaust. Basically all I need to assemble is under the hood and put fluids in. Can't wait for the day it will move under it's own power again. But I will have to wait for the 3 feet of snow to melt that is blocking the door...

Scott, what is that radiator painted with, or is it just bare? I got mine back from the shop a couple of weeks ago and requested they not paint it so I can spray it with the Eastwood's radiator paint. It looks awful right now with nothing on it!!!!

They painted it black gloss and looks really nice. I have that Eastwood paint also I was going to put on it too. Are they supposed to be gloss or semi-gloss?

Scott, that Eastwood paint is a pretty high gloss. It's very watery and runny which I guess is what gives it the low thermal barrier characteristic that Eastwood claims it has. The OE radiators that I remember from the early to mid 70's had shiny crappy paint jobs.

That's good. That is what mine looks like right now but better than crappy. Maybe I will leave it alone. At least it will not leak and will be able to keep the motor cool, that is the important thing...

Thanks for the compliments. I am planning on putting the red inner fenders in this weekend. Hopefully going to wrap up the engine compartment in the next few weeks. Can't wait to fire it up again.

I got the passenger side inner fender in then ran out of time. Here is a picture of my old inner fenders. Someone had painted them black at some time in their life. And they were a little melted.

Looks GREAT! I am getting excited to get my body back.

I have to ask... Do you want to sell your old red inners?

Thanks. These red inner fenders are going to go to the person that buys my car. I do not think I want to sell them separately.

I got my exhaust from inline tube. It looks very good but I will not know how it fits for another 3-4 months.

Inline Tube Exhaust

I purchased and installed the inline tube exhaust kit. It went together very easily and everything went into place with little to no manipulation. If memory serves correctly, the only thing I had to do was loosen the exhaust manifolds from the block, and by loosen I mean turn the bolts a few threads to create some wiggle room so the exhaust tubes would align. I would highly recommend their exhaust. Nice work on the build!

No real news right now. I did get it running with open exhaust but it would not stay running. I think I have some choke work and timing to do but at least I know it fires. I am going to wait until I get my exhaust. I have a meeting with GM in the next week so while I was in the neighborhood I was going to pickup exhaust from Inlinetube to save on shipping. All the fluids are in except antifreeze, reason for that is because Inlinetube sent the wrong clamps for the radiator hoses. Should get them today. Found out too that I got a bad master cylinder. Went to bleed it and it leaked from the back of it by the pedal. Took that off in a hurry and exchanged it. Got the new one on without leaks and I actually have brakes now.

This is the norm with them. Great product but just have to check your orders. I have had 3 out of 4 orders wrong in the past year.

Amusing I've had the same experience recently at InLine, often one item wrong in my order. I also tried to purchase some of their INL10813 heater hose clamps recently but they sent their 13080. After a number of back and forths they said they didn't have the 10813 any more and that it was incorrect. But they continue to advertise it on e-bay so I'm not really sure what the story is.

Wheels and tires are on. Will do exhaust today and hopefully get it off the jackstands and pull it out of the garage under its own power today.

Scott, please more details on the exhaust installation. Did you install it yourself, and if so, did you have to do any cutting or additional bending to get it to fit properly?
