I got quotes from 4 different body shops that I know are excellent. I decided to go with River City Muscle LLC who is a very good friend of mine. He is starting his restoration business officially right now and my car is the first under that business name. He has 20 plus years of experience and is deciding to make a jump into it full time. He has a ton of attention to detail is is one of the best painters around. Keep an eye on this thread as I will post pictures thru the whole paint process. Look him up on FaceBook @ River City Muscle LLC.

I am thinking of changing the color to Matador Red with white stripes. I am going to keep this car for along time so resale of the original gold does not really matter to me. I can't wait until I get it back from him so I can do the final assembly.

I shrink wrapped the frame and put the body back on to get it to the bodyshop. He will take it back off and put it on his rotisserie to media blast the bottom to paint it.

I like the shrink wrap idea. I was trying to think how i was going to test fit the body on my finished chassis and now i know... I am a long way from that point but trying to plan the entire build before i start.

I was going to drape plastic over the frame then put the body on but then Brian Trick suggested shrink wrapping it. Great idea!

No real updates right now. Just had triple hernia surgery so I was down and out for a couple weeks. I have the hood, spoiler, front fenders and trunk lid at the paint shop right now and he is working on those parts. Found out I need a drivers front fender so I am trying to locate one of those. I found a few but I am having a hard time finding someone who wants to ship one. Can't wait to see your thread on your restoration process.

Still at the body shop. Hood, doors, trunk lid, fenders and spoiler are done and ready for paint. He has to finish welding the drivers quarter on then it comes off the frame again to get the underneath media blasted and painted on the rotisserie. Hope to get it back by the end of July.

what kind of lift do you have in the first set of pics? It looks lower than some others I've seen. A lift is on my wishlist.

He laid it out parallel to the door and centered the stripe. I also had some measurements. Had lots of pictures too, and a blueprint and help from members here on this site. I hope they are correct.

I have the same springs that were in the car. There is nothing in the car but the motor and trans. I am sure once I put everything back in the car it will sit like it did before.

Yes. Hite did rebuild the pump. They did a great job from what I can see.

I love the wheels! That is an area I am having trouble with. I can't decide if I will go with SSI, SSII, or SSIII. I know it isn't correct but I am leaning to SSIII also.

I like the chrome of the SSI wheels but I really like the SSIII wheels also. I will probably get some SSI wheels for some shows and run some nice radials on the SSIII's.

Looking great Scott!! Keep me posted and a finished pic or two for the wall of happy customers. This was a fun project that went over-all pretty smooth. The stripes came from a Phoenix Graffix stencil kit and I would highly recommend if you want to use a stencil kit, get one from someone else. ALOT of it had to be free handed and I have about 15 hours into the stripe lay-out. Three color coats and four coats of clear with the stripes under the clear. The red is a knock out color-really comes alive in the sun.... PPG is simply the best!! Looks like you'll be ready for spring cruising and burn-outs this coming year... Mike

Charlie. Good meeting you too. Your car looks great.

I am now starting to put the interior back together and getting other odds and ends around. Sent my tac to Redline for a refurbish. Got my wiper motor back from a rebuild also. It seems like it is never ending but I am having a blast. It was great seeing all the W cars at the MCACN this past weekend to get some examples of how everthing is supposed to go.

Weather sucks here in Michigan so there is nothing else to do except work in the barn.

Wow. I just read all the posts on this thread for the first time. What an awesome project! If you felt like posting or sending more interior pictures, I would love to see them. It will give me some ideas for my own car, which is only a tribute, but I still would like to see more of the real deal!
