Experience with removing carpet
Good day all,
My 1966 Toronado has some pretty deteriorated carpet underlay. I'd very much like to pull the carpet out, replace the underlay and clean up the floor while I'm there. I'm not 100% sure if I can get the correct carpet replacement color (mine is midnight green which isn't easily found. I don't think SMS has it).
In any case, anyone have any experience with removing carpet like that, cleaning and re-installing it? Am I asking for trouble I wonder?

It's time consuming but can be done. Check with automotive interiors in Massachusetts or ACC carpet in Alabama. They'll need the trim number off your data plate so you get the right color. I also put down some sheets of DYNAMAT, to keep the interior a little quieter and cooler. I have a 55' super 88.

Yeah the soft backing, which I guess is for insulating and noise reduction, under the carpet is toast on mine. It looks like it's holding moisture which is starting to rust the floor from the inside out. I want to get that old stuff out of there and treat the pans before it does much more damage.
