Carpet - Mass backed

I have a 67 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. I have a box of sound deadening stuff, Mat 66 I think, and need to get carpet. The Parts Place has a standard carpet and a mass backed one. Has any one worked with the mass backed carpet?

Almost all the repro carpet is mass backed. I've not removed carpet from a car with any other underlay.

Well, from looking at a few sites it seems they have the standard base carpet for around $149 to $185, while some stores have at least one additional option. As already mentioned ThePartsPlace has their 2nd choice priced at $239 and OPGI has a 2nd choice called "carpet, Essex" priced $240. It would seem there are some differences between what some companies offer. If someone has recently gotten carpet and went with something above the standard base version, please share your observations and recommendations. Thanks.

Essex carpet is a finer thread than the 80/20 loop. Think more like the carpet you would find in a modern car. I have seen the mass backed carpet advertised. Not sure I have used it.

Ordered carpet with the mass backing option from stockinteriors.com. I just got to pull the seats this weekend and will be dropping them off at upholstery shop today. I haven't installed the carpet yet but it is thick and seems to be well worth the extra money.

Rock auto also has the same carpets with and w/o mass, I'm going with the loop and mass as it's like my og. carpet.
