Question 1966 Olds Cutlass Steering Shaft and Column

I am restoring a 1966 oldsmobile cutlass. the rag joint tore on it so I am in the process of putting a new one on. I pulled the column and shaft then realized the shaft bearing the goes into the column is busted so I need to replace that as well. My question is does anyone know where I can purchase a new or used and intact bearing? Also wondering how and if I need to get the shaft out of the column to replace it?

Pictures of the bearing in question attatched:

I bought one a couple years ago from NPD, but now they sell a brass bushing instead of a bearing.
BEARING, Steering Column, Lower, Item has been redesigned no longer a bearing but a machined brass piece, item fits tighter and will last longer than orginal design, Repro - #C-6521-100A - National Parts Depot (npdlink.com)

OPG has them;

thank you for the links. I'll check them out. Do you know if I take the steering shaft out at the bottom of the column after removing the nut on the steering wheel?

Yes, the shaft comes out the bottom, nothing but the wheel holds it in. There is an upper bearing, and there may be another nut under the wheel you would need to remove. My memory isn't that good, but it easily comes out, I have done it.

I appreciate the responses! I'll order that part from NPD and see how it goes. its super affordable so not really losing much if it don't work.

1966 Cutlass Steering wheel/column question

My steering shaft threads and nut were stripped when I removed the steering wheel. So I need to get a tap and die set to fix it.

Does anyone happen to know what size thread is on the nut and thread on the steering shaft that connects the steering wheel to the steering shaft?

I got the same problem on a steering column I bought from someone. I am going in the morning to NAPA or a hardware store and taking the shaft with me and if I am able to find the right size I will contact you. I have a tap and die set but my biggest die is not big enough.

Why have you asked the same question on two different forums? You will get the same answer, it won't change.

My shaft has metric threads. What a big surprise to me. The die I needed is a 14mx1.5. Had to order one since none of the stores around here had one.
