Valve stem seals

I just got my Fel pro gasket set for my 65 400 motor and it came with the valve guide seals. Two different types. One bag has the number 70393 the other 70437. I'm aware one size is for the intake the other is exhaust but which goes to what? The 70393 appears slightly taller.

Funny, I just had the same question and googled it to find this thread. The only difference I see is that the exhaust side has shorter seals. Anyone know why they are shorter for one side than the other. I did not notice there was a difference when I done my 62 Jetfire so I bet those are all mixed up.

The shorter umbrella seals are to allow more oil mist to get to the exhaust stems and guides. With the 308 and 328 camshafts I have always tossed the intake umbrella seals and use the exhaust seals on the intakes and no seal on the exhaust....works for me!
