Setting the Dwell on Points

Help! It has been a while since I put points in. The car is a 67 Olds 442 and gapped the points at .016 but my question do I set the the dwell at 30 with the vacumn advance on or off. I know the timing is at 7 1/2 with vacumn advance off but can't remember if dwell is set with advance on or off?

Gary, I never taken the vacumn advance line off when I set my points. Just my 2 cents. Also saw your car sitting out today, moving right along.

The vac advance has no effect on dwell, only on initial timing, so it doesn't matter one way or the other.

It needs to be set to 30, no more no less. After you set your dwell you need to go back and reset your timing. And as others have said the vacuum hose will not effect dwell.
