Is Lucas high zinc hot rod and classic oil any good?

Ive been told that i should run an oil with a high zinc content in my car. I was searching around for some suggestions but everyone has a different opinon of what is best. I heard that Lucas hot rod and classic oil has a very high zinc content (2100ppm) and i was wondering if it was any good. I also heard some good things about valvoline vr1 but some pople absolutely hate it. Im due for an oil change soon and i want to know what type of oil would be reccommended. Not sure if it makes a difference but the engine is a non-stock, rebuilt 403.

What kind of cam are you running? If you have a roller or a hydraulic roller I believe you don't need it. I don't have a strong opinion on oil but for my car I use off the shelf stuff & add ZDDP.

Any oil that says contains ZDDP use it.

Or do like droptop and add your own.

I use the VR1, and also have just used regular oil and added ZDDP. There are numerous threads pertaining to this.

x2

I just add cam shield to get to the desired amount. I believe droptopron is right, if you have a roller cam and lifters this is a non-issue.

Thanks for the replies. Im not sure weather it has a roller cam and lifters since i wasnt the one who rebuilt it. Il go with a zinc adative or a high zinc oil just to be on the safe side.
