89 regency 98 water pump replacement

I managed to get one for a decent price. Looks like I might need to remove my belt to do the replacement? Anything special or specific I need to do or get for this?

First and foremost, you should invest in a Chassis Service Manual... I copied the water pump section to assist you in the water pump change...

Do you really need to do this? I'd hate to see your pants fall down in the middle of the job.

How did you determine that it needs a water pump replacement? The 3.8l will often leak coolant from the intake manifold gasket and will exhibit over heating and symptoms similar to a blown head gasket.

I purchased mine years ago when an Oldsmobile dealer was going out of business... I bought all of their chassis & fisher body manuals in multiple quantities, kept a complete set covering 1964 thru 2004 for myself and have been selling the duplicates... Unfortunately, I do not have a spare 89 available, but some other member might have one available... If not they are readily available on EBay and other auction sites... Here's one on EBay for $8:
