This is getting past rediculous. Something needs to be done to block the spammers from joining up with this place every other day. I would think a simple manual approval to join would clear up 95% of it. Hell I'll even volunteer to be the moderator to allow what new users get in. I am on several other boards and I don't see TV's ,Phones and **** spam there.

It's not just the little kids (which I agree with you BTW) it's the fact that this crap is being forced onto a clean and responsible web site. I can't imagine what my wife would say if she came in when I opened one of those posts. First impressions are really hard to break.

That being said, Richard, if you can get the support of the other administrators to take on the task, I support your action. Good to know there are other boards that have a screening process. Don't know how it works. Only thing I worry about is that once a spammer finds a good target they won't give up on it that easy.???right/wrong??? Other side of the coin is that if they see that their spam is being deleted as fast as they put it up it becomes a waste of their time??

I for one support any effort to get rid of these creeps. They attacked one of my threads at least 2 times and it got closed early by Dan to stop the flow of spam. I support Dan's action but was disappointed that my poll didn't run to the end. BTW I've decided that the vinyl roof (thread that got closed) is something that I Really Want and the car's going to always be in a heated garage and covered so I shouldn't have rustout issues if the vinyl is properly installed.

If we all are willing to help, Is there a better way to police it. I agree up until recently this has not been that big a problem. I do not want to loose all of the good contacts an e-mail friends I have made on this site because they leave to cleaner sites. I am going to hang around and help

This guy or (these guys) just keep signing up under different names. If we go to a manual approval for new memebers it should stop it. I am 99% sure its an automated program that does it and will not answer a simple question if asked to be able to join up.

As I write this, the stats box on the right of my screen says top poster "xxxPORNOxxx" with "4,294,967,291" posts.
Then it says "welcome to our newest member "LonelyGirlz".

I'm no brain surgion or rocket scientist.....But I think our trusty Olds site is infested.

By the way. I carefully scrutenized the **** posted the other day and I'm sure I didn't see any Oldsmobiles. I even double checked to make sure

Don't get me wrong, i love this place. The **** was on longer than it should have been i know that much. We need more mods or something? I couldn't even get any mods to remove pics of another member using my car pics under his user name.......yeah they are still on here after notifying them more than once.........never got an answer even on how to remove my own pics Oh...one more thing. I like it though. Above every page is a Dodge Ram Advertisement ..........go figure???

Did you report it, when you saw it?

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/48383-post4.html

If not, did you expect the mods/administrators to read your mind?

Mods/Administrators cannot fix problems that they are not aware of:

Sorry guys but I do not know how to correct this problem. I have not been on enough to catch spammers immidiately but do know that when I was on last time (I think Friday during the day) I deleted about 32 spams on one thread alone. When I get notifications I check the board, sometimes the spams are already gone which means other mods are working too. Not to be passing the buck here but I am in over my head, as you guys should know, I am not the sparpest knife in the dwrawer when it comes to computers.

Actually the best thing you guys can do is use the REPORT POST buttong and we keep deleting it. There are more restrictive schemes for approving posts but trust me what we've got going on here is NOTHING as compared to most internet forums. Computers are my business, and I'm Admining other huge forums so I've got the experience to say that we're on the right course. Only other thing we could do would be to add more moderators to delete it faster.

It is a bummer that there is so much SPAM. I will definitely report any spam I see.
