My 54 in a Movie

Some of you that have been here a while that back in 2014 I carried a 93 year old WWII Marine in the Veterans Day Parade in the back of my 54 convertible. He was in his Marine Dress Blues the day of the parade. I had a guy in the front seat with me who was filming and a guy walking with us for the entire parade route. They were working a documentary which is now in theaters. It premiered yesterday and my wife and I saw it last night. The title of the movie is To What Remains. It follows the efforts of Project Recover's search for more than 80,000 missing aircrew members from WWII. It is a very well done documentary and was directed by Chris Wood who was the one riding with me in the parade. There are several clips of my car in the parade and a glimpse of me driving. This was the neatest thing I have ever done with a car. R.V.Burgin was one of 235 Marines what went ashore in Peleliu and was one of the 85 survivors that came off the island thirty days later. He died in April 2019 and was the next to the last survivor. We became friends and I visited with him about two months before he died. He was a real hero of the Greatest Generation. I am putting a link to the trailer where you will see him sitting in the back seat of my car. I have included a couple pictures of the parade.

The 80,000 missing is mostly Army Air Corps.
Thanks Greg. I do feel very proud to be a very small part of this. I laughed and told my wife I am an unnamed extra. Knowing R.V. Burgin was an honor.

Very cool. Two of my Uncle's were WW2 Veterans for Canada. They were lucky to come back home. Those missing Men deserve to be found and given the final closure to their families.

I salute you! Thanks for sharing this.

For those watching the Army Navy game tomorrow, please watch for the tribute to CDR Bruce Bourgeouis who passed earlier this week from a recent training accident. He was my neighbor briefly a couple of years ago. Prayers for him, his wife and 4 children.
