I’ve been searching for a while, and aside from the expensive OEM cassette deck that mounts on the console, I haven’t been able to find any other options for a 68-72 Cutlass.
I’m surprised there wasn’t a dash bolt-on, or even tape/radio deck insert for the existing radio developed in the last 48 years.
Also, has anyone found an aftermarket option (that isn’t necessarily a GM part), that looks ok and plays cassettes? Either bolt-on, or insert.
So I was struggling with something to do that wasn't crazy expensive, didn't cut the dash, and was more modern that 1969.
Believe it or not, you can still find new in box old audiovox cassette players. They aren't top of the line... But they don't look terribly out of place.
I scored this new with speakers and an amp for $35 last week. Add a 14$ Bluetooth transmitter, and you can now stream music or go hands free. Audiovox plus 14 dollar Bluetooth fm transmitter.
