The White Elephant turned 100,000. It is a little weird seeing all of those zeros.

The other day I put in a water temp and oil pressure gauge along with a tach. My registration came through, put on the plates and took the familiy for at cruise. The Cutlass paid it´s thanks by breaking down. I love that car, never had a car with that personality and attitude :-)

Thanks, I hope the wide scoop stripe goes as well!
I think the one around the back window will be the hardest!

I really like your car. Looked for one for a while and couldn't find one I thought was up to snuff. A guy in my neighborhood had one when I was a kid and since it had a gear in it, it was quick as hell.

Did exactly nothing.

It's been raining for days and I'm waiting for my appraisal documents to get some historic car insurance quotes to select from.

Inspection, emission test, loudness test, ranking as historic vehicle and creation of a German "title" document is done:

I purchased a 160 degree thermostat to help run the engine a bit cooler. The re-cored radiator is doing it's job so far.

Over the weekend, I picked up a throttle linkage, cables and a peddle from the bone-yard. Hopefully, I will soon use my gas peddle to find the secondaries on the carb. I know there is alot more to this engine that I haven't enjoyed since I am still using the St300 linkage.

Congrats on getting it through inspection. I know from past postings that it requires jumping through hoops.

Well after reading some threads this morning, I got motivated. I had bought some new brake shoes a few weeks ago and they were sitting on my shelf. The temps out were in the low 70's, so what the hell. The drums were not warped, all the springs and hardware looked good, a couple of hours work, simple shoe change.

Since the city decided I need to clean up my junkyard, I mean "antique automobile parts inventory", I rounded up 26 factory wheels & took them to the local tire shop & had all the tires removed so I could more easily store the wheels. Also now I have a few sets of 14" SS II wheels for sale.

So there it is, finally.

Market value as stated in appraisal: €17 000 (23 320.60 US$ as of today)
Grade as stated in appraisal: 2-3 or a "good 3" (1 best, 6 worst as German school grades)

I'm quite OK with that, though I hoped for a slightly higher grade the value is spot on. A repaint in the '80s and the number of minor scratches in the paint did do their part in the finding of the grade, I guess.

As always, replaced wearing parts are not calculated, only value increasing parts and modifications, so it's basically a fair judgement and hits the sum I spent so far. The roughly $1000 paperwork for title, registration, inspection and stuff is peanuts.

Next up: Get quotes, insure it, get it on the road.

Uh.

Idling in the garage, I was alerted by the smell of burned oil and white smoke coming up behind the head at #8 and around the #6 spark plug...

Using my flash light I saw it coming up from the capped exhaust flange/oil filter adapter. Searching the forum with my mobile I found a very similar occurance and a hint to check the valve covers.

Ooopsie!

Loose - and when I say loose I mean loooooooooose. I could turn all the screws with my fingers.

I think I "fixed" it. The remaining oil burned off and smoked some more but I (want to) believe it got better.

Finishing my car after painting, and getting it ready for the Power Tour feels like a full time job

Insulated the floor with the Eastwood product
Replaced carpet (ACC)
Installed 3 pt. belts (Morris Concepts)
Replaced right hand window regulator (Ames Performance)
Touched up trunk spatter paint
Replaced trunk mat (Fusick)
Cleaned and painted 1 1/4" sway bar with Eastwood Satin Chassis Black

All for now, more suspension work next

What a joke. The day after I could drive my garage landlord's BMW E90 is stuck in the extra narrow driveway with a dead starter.

Tapped it with a rod numerous times but it's dead. He said he'd get it fixed next week or so. Thought about tapping him or using reverse and my gas foot to "help" him out to the street with his piece of crap.

Tonight's a Saturday Night Cruise - Big big thank you...

I'm, hopefully, going to pull the dash circuit board out of the 66 and solder the pins. I've run an ohmmeter from the gas gauge to the gas tank. Sending unit works, gas gauge is not faulty, and there are no breaks in the wire. That pretty much narrows it down. It's jobs like this that make me wish I were 60 again. LOL

Well I finally go around to working on the 66 a bit. I swapped out my ruined maroon lap belts for a set of nice black ones. I even added middle seat belts so now 6 can ride safely. I also installed some gauges and a tach. With this I learned my engine is turning 2k at 75mph!!! Am I sure I want to upgrade the gears?

Yesterday morning i switched from Flow Masters to Dynomax VT. What a difference in noise. I missed the Flow Masters "BOOM" sound once i started but with the Dynomax there is no "BOOM" sound but you can heard the cam more clearer than the Flow Masters.

I just had to write about this. I ordered one of those $60 eBay distributors to replace the old one with the advance stuck closed. I installed it, set timing at 15, hooked up full time vacuum source to the advance pod and got 36 for a total of 51 timing. For a street engine you can't beat these distributors, it woke this 350 up big time!
