There are hose sleeves to help with this issue. Napa and others have sleeve adapters...Ask me how I know....

It appears you have a 1970 cooling system setup on your '71 - I have similar on my car.

The 1971-newer engines have a 1.5" radiator outlet and 1.75" water pump inlet.
The 1970-older engines have a 1.75" radiator outlet and 2" water pump inlet.

So I would have thought the 20601 hose would work. I've never had any problems with lower hose fitment on my car.

Yup, you’ll pay a little more but I’ve found the repro hoses fit a lot better than parts store versions.

Maybe you can trim the 601 to fit? That may be what I did in the past. It looks as if the lower end is trimmed a bit that it would match the middle one.

^^^THIS! The water pump is not correct, thus the hose problem. Also note that a lot of replacement radiator vendors sell the small outlet radiators for all applications to cut the size of their inventory and cost, forcing you to use the bushing for some applications.
