Olds Owners - Post your age bracket

I'm trying to gauge a perception of the average age of Oldsmobile owners.

Post what Oldsmobiles you own also.

I'll start - Age = 37
First car I owned and learned to drive
1972 Cutlass S (red, black interior) in 1993 Pensacola Florida in the Navy.
Current Olds is a pro-touring 1970 442 clone (Cutlass S) 400hp LSX / T-56 powered.

I'm 56 years old. Do you have a problem with that?

The first car that I purchased was a new 1974 Gremlin X with the Levis interior that I ordered from the factory. It had a 304 ci engine with a three speed manual transmission. I added lots of stuff to it, like a 4brl carb, etc, etc.

BTW, Oldsmobiles and AMC's have lots of common parts. Rocker arms and distributer caps come to mind.

My first Oldsmobile was my '67 Delta Custom and my '67 Delta convertible parts car, on the same day, at the end of January 2010.

Jaybird.

I'm 41, My Olds is 40, we're 7 months apart in age. It's a 1971 Cutlass supreme. I bought it in March of '89 as a freshman in college, and used it as my daily for 8 years. At the time I was looking for a late 60's Chevelle, but the Olds caught my eye. I really liked the style, it was in the family I purchased it from since new, and it was very solid for a $650 18 year old car. I've learned a ton from this forum, and appreciate it now more than ever.

I'm 33. When I was 20- I fell in love with a 68 Delmont 88 convertible. I'd go over to the friends who owned it to work on it for him just so we could cruise it.. begged him to sell it to me for a few years after it sat neglected.... Eventually it was mine- and then sold... quickly regretted.

In the meantime since that car gave me the classic car bug... i've had 4- 68-72 elcaminos, a 69 camaro, a 70 Cutlass S, a 67 Mercury monterey Convertible, and now my 66 cutlass.

Ironicly (or fate) After getting hooked by my friends delmont- i began searching for my own classic car. I was looking at 66-67 cutlass's because i liked the delmont so much. But i had TERRIBLE luck looking. Seemed every one i'd call on sold right before i'd call, or in one case 15 mins before i arrived to look at it. Wound up buying a 69 elcamino that set in motion a love affair i still have for those cars... but an Olds was always in my mind. In between all those other cars i was always looking- but these cars are really rare around the northwest for some reason.

Anyway, after selling my last elcamino... It was high time i got the car i SHOULD have gotten back then. Its now coming up on 3 years in a few months. Thats darn near the longest I've kept any of my cars, so that should say something.

I am 56 and my first car was a 1968 Delta 88 2-door. The color was maroon with a white not vinyl top.

I see several others had big body first cars wonder what was up with that.

I hope to make it to that over 70 bracket.

1960's cafe style British Motorcycles are my other passion specifically Triumphs and Nortons.

I'm 32 soon to be 33. First Olds was handed down from my dad 1987 Cutlass Supreme Brouham. I got it when he bought a new Buick in 1996. Unforunately it met its demise in 1997 when a Nissan Sentra pulled out in front of me and I T-boned him, totaled both cars. Someday I'll have another. Current car is a 1969 Cutlass S bought in 1999 as a restoration project. I just repainted it last year and brought new life into this old girl. I also recently inherited another 1969 Cutlass S that was my father in laws.

Learned to drive at 14 through the back roads of rural Vermont in a 78 Cutlass Cruiser Wagon

Dropped a valve in my dad's 72 Cutlass 'S' spinning tires in the snow at age 15

Drove my 71 Convertible through high school and I've still got it....although I've since restored it.

Drove a 72 Toro through college and then an 87 Supreme Brougham which I traded in for a '92 Cutlass Conv - which I still have.

Somewhere in there the '50's' bug bit me

If my calculations are correct I'll live just long enough to finish all the projects I have going...nah - who am I kidding?

Bought my 70 in 81. Started racing in 84. Ran a 14.10 at first, kept getting faster every year depending on how much money I had. Best ET has been a 9.68 @ 135 mph. Had to give up driving it 3 yrs ago due to health issues, but it is still my Money Pit .

Got a 68 cutlass s first about 20 years ago sold it with kids growing up. About 3 years ago my wife told me she wanted another old car but wanted a convertible. I told her I would do my best. Now have a 71 cutlass convertible.
Also had a 85 custom crusier and a 92 alero. Wish I still had the 85.

Got my first cutlass 3 years ago (the one to the left in my picture) Because it was the same model and colour as my dad's first car. So i'm building the car for him.

Cheers,

I will be 53 next month! Took my driver's test in a 1972 Cutlass Supreme and fell in love with the car! I've had Teepo since 2006.

It was my brother - in- laws. I bought it off of him later for $300. Ran it till the frame broke. Bought another 72 Supreme off a lady I worked with, back in the 80's. Drove it until 1991 when I got a 1985 Cutlass Supreme. Drove that until 1994 when I got an 84 Delta 88. Motor blew in 1996. Got an 85 Delta 88 and drove that until 2001 when I traded it in on my 1998 Olds Intrigue. Sold that in 2007, and got the 2001 Intrigue. Sold that to my daughter last winter, but I still drive it occasionally. Now I drive my 2007 Tin Can, lol! (Rav4) I love Oldsmobiles!

I don't get over here much to post, but I loved reading the thread about ages. I will be 40 in May of next year. Got my '77 442 when I was 16. My parents bought it new, and I remember riding home in the car in the back seat. I guess I have been hooked on Oldsmobiles since '77!

That's in binary notation (base 2).

After all, the base in which the age was to be expressed wasn't specified.

But if it wasn't base 2, it would be just plain decimals!

Oh, and the first car I ever owned was a 3.2955671 Chevy Nova. Of course, that number is actually the common (base 10) logarithm of the model year.

I figure if I'm going to be a $@#@% about my age, I might as well also be one about my first car.

Here's a couple of photos of my first car taken in early 1986 about two days I traded it in on the very first new car I ever purchased, which was an '86 Dodge 600.

The Nova was so rusty that, when you looked at it from certain angles, you could see right through it. It had about 110,000 miles at trade-in. I got $100 for it.

I'm 54, soon to turn double nickels. I learned to drive my mom's '66 Plymouth Fury II station wagon. Got my drivers license on my 16th birthday. Learned to drive a stick in a '69 Toyota Corona that my dad had. I got my first car in '74 and it was a '66 442 Holiday Coupe for $500. I sold it in early '75 due to the gas prices going way too high for a college student (>$1). I got $250 for it and bought a Vega.

I just recently bought another '66 442, but this one's a convertible. Got lots of work to do on it before I can drive it.

I am a car guy!

I'm 53, my very first car in the year of our lord nineteen hundred and seventy six, a 1967 Olds Cutlass Supreme, cost me $500 and I put another $500 in it.

Two years ago I purchased this 1967 Cutlass for $5000 as a father n son 1st car project that went terribly wrong, so needless to say its mine! So far managed to stick another 10k in it!!

I've owned alot of different muscle cars over the years, most I still wish I had today!!

I'm 73 (the only one over 70, according to the survey). 1st car was a 1940 Ford 2 door sedan; sure wish I still had that one. 2nd was a 1950 88 2 door sedan (X's 4 on wishing I still had it); 3rd was a 1950 98 H/T, very rare car, now (X's 25 on WISHI!). Somewhere in there had a '64 F85 4 door, when I went back to college. Had Big Red ('68 Cutlass S convertible - deceased); have the Silver Bullet ('68 Cutlass FlatTop Wagon), the '92 Custom Cruiser (CCRider), and just recently purchased the '94 Cutlass Supreme convertible w/a/3.1. Reckon I'm gonna keep the ones we have, drive 'em, and try and keep from getting hit by idiots in BMW's!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 53. I learned to drive in my father's 70 Toronado and bought it off him two years later when I graduated HS. I currently own a 66 Cutlass convertible that will be seeing a BBO with the L-69 option soon. My father owned a 56 Olds when I was born, bought a 61 Olds new in Detriot and the 70 Toronado new in NJ.
