My 70 442 Arrived Today

I spent most of the day tearing it down. Unfortunately, it needs more work than I thought it would, as the console is broken, the dash is cracked, the seat springs are all rusted, seatbelts need replacing, the floors have several large holes, and the build sheet was beyond salvageable (under front passenger seat).

Now for the good, the seller (great guy) included a ton of new parts with the sale, the hood is in excellent condition, and the quarters and roof are solid. the car fired right up when it arrived and I was able to taking it for ride around the block. The car included the following:

- New OAI aircleaner
- New Carpets
- New Headliner
- New weatherstipping
- New window sweeps
- New front bumper
- New Trunk Pan (needs to be install)
- New latch section to replace rotted area
- etc..

It was like xmas morning came early. Although disappointed by the things I found, I am still very please with the purchase and think I got a good deal.

Congrats!
What's to find disappointment with?
Nothing that can't be overcome, right?
With time and money...

You know john, you cant have everything, but sometimes we can get pretty close. I'm sure you are seeing everything you have to do. But you got to balance that with the things you don't have to do.

Sounds like you got a pretty neat package to open up, heck, you might not see everything you got until later, for the good I hope.

The fact you could drive it around the block is a plus, what does she look like? hmm...Pics please.

Well I feel for you that it might be more work than you thought, bet they all are! Count your blessings my friend. You got a very well optioned original car by the looks of it. I remember when it was up for sale, desireable color as well. You can't replace the originality like you can replace the missing or damaged parts. What plant was it built at? You may still have hope at finding another build sheet.

Guys,

Thanks for all the posts.. Overall, I think I got a great deal on the car and am very happy with it. I have also gotten a lot of post from people on the board with the fenders and doors I need, so this should make it a little easier. I think was bummed me out were the seat frames, dash, and console. The floors are no big deal as a buddy of mine does welding and is doing all the metal work from free - well beer and food - he is 310 lbs. so it will be expensive

As for the plant it was made in E - I have already checked the rear seat, under the carpet, and above the gas tank. The headliner had a critter nest so I doubt there is anything up there.. I will take some additional pictures once I pull the rest of the interior and clean up some of the debree.. BTW - there were new grills and headlight bezels in the box as well.

Half the fun of this hobby is making a car yours. I don't mean by buying it although that is pretty fun in itself. When you improve a car you make it yours and have some fun doing it. Would, love to see some pics!
