As I go further down the rabbit hole on this 70 442 suspension, I cringe to think what would've happened if I just dropped an engine in it and drove down the road. This is the upper ball joint I removed. You couldn't see the damage with the rubber boot installed. It pays to inspect these old cars thoroughly. Previous owner may have been a stunt driver.

A coworker of mine once bought a 71 Firebird from a friend and delivery included driving it on Bay Area freeways. The battery was dead so we helped push it into the service bay after it was dropped off. While pushing it across the parking lot, the driver side tie rod end fell apart! What would have happened if it fell apart on the freeway?
