I was digging though the garage and found a box with a new HEI rotor, and when I opened the box this Hurst Olds emblem was tucked in with the rotor. It's plastic and appears to have been mounted with double sticky tape.
Any ideas about where something like this might have originally been used?
That is a genuine 69-75 Hurst/Olds emblem. 79 used the same style, although they had gold where the red and white are. There are some claims of white "slashes" on some 79 gold emblems, but nothing ever confirmed to my knowledge. That thing has seen better days, but still presentable as a toolbox piece.
It also appears the "O" had been broken off at one time, or at least cracked. Early versions had the "connecting tissue" inside those areas black. Later versions were left chromed.
Here's some 79 H/O emblems I sold on ebay a few years ago. Only year they were gold.
Thanks for the info. You are correct, the O is broken off; I just placed it together on the bench to take the picture. I'll probably stick it on the tool box for garage art as you mentioned.
