Generator Issue: Test your battery first with a volt meter, make sure it is charged up. If its less than 10.5V, battery may not be holding a charge and you may have to check the cells. If battery is okay, check it when the car is turned on and see what voltage is from the generator. If voltage is about 13.5V -14.5V I would think your battery is getting properly charged and generator is okay. Then start checking the electrical circuit for shorts, opens or loose connections from generator to dash light.

Light Flickering Issue: Your light flickering problem may be a part of a circuit problem if there is a short against it - but I would treat it separately. If you fix your generator issue first, and the light flickering goes away, all the better. If the light flickering doesn't go away, then you'll need to isolate the trouble separately (check the light connector(s) first, make sure they are tight.

Is your car blowing fuses? (Shorts can be a likely cause).
