Gauges draw such a small amount of current, I doubt the gauges themselves would ever overload that circuit. If the gauges put that circuit over the limit, you had problems long before the gauge install!

I believe there is a power tap on the fuse box near the wiper fuse. The only problem using the power tap for the heater/wiper/backup lamp or turn signals is the gauges won’t work with the ignition in the accessory position.

If you have a aftermarket radio, and the factory radio plugs have been cut off, power the gauges from the yellow wire. The gauges will then work in the run and accessory ignition key position.

Hope that helps.

Thanks again Matt,
I do have an aftermarket radio, so I will look for the yellow wire from the stock radio.

FWIW, your comment doesn't help at all. I do know there are mechanical gauges. I've got an oil pressure one. If you want to send me a mechanical water temp gauge that'll help alot.

I was responding to the post about there not being a choice for mechanical gauges for temperature; perhaps, if and when you've been here longer than two months, you'll learn both that many of these forum threads are conversations between more people than to just the OP, and that, if you want to ask for free stuff, it helps to not be a jerk while asking. I have no use for my mechanical gauge at the moment, other than NOT sending to someone like you.

At least, not at the agreed-on price

So now it sounds like you're changing your comment about what you said about mechanical temp gauges. And if your comment was meant for forum members that have been around more than two months, I would assume that would be common knowledge. I have had nothing but help in my short two months of seeking advice, with the exception of your comment.

Also what is a good place for power to my temp gauge. I already have a couple of things tapped into the ign blade at the fuse panel.
As I mentioned, I fabricated a Y connector so that I could power my clock and radio off of the gray clock wire. The lamps on the gauges only draw 200mA each so 600mA if you daisy chain them.
