Fuel lines...
Fuel lines...
Ok I have a cutlass 69 vert, I was looking at all the lines fuel and brake and replacing them with stainless, now I replaced the main fuel line over 10 years ago, ( the body has been off that long!!) but looking at it there is no 1/4 return line and I can not remember if there was one? did all 69's have a return line? mine was a 350 car, I am sure i would have ordered it when I ordered the main line but looking in the garage I don't see it? and it has been so long I can not remember, and digital cameras were not an option back in the day LOL...
just asking if I need to get a return line, I am replacuing the 350 with a 455.
any advice would be appreciated

My friends 69 vert with a 400 has a return line and a non-vented cap.
My 69 hardtop with 455 has a return line but is plugged off and a vented cap.
CM states all A,B and C body cars with V-8 have return lines.
My 69 fuel pump does not have a return but my friends does so I guess it depends on your fuel pump and how you want to vent your tank and type of fuel pick up you have.

Hmmmm
Thanks For the Info Don, I looked at the assembly manual and it appears to show both ways with and without a vent line? mine had this plastic two prong fork looking thing, but I am now upgrading to a 455? and I think the new fuel pump has a vent line fitting? not sure, Oh Geez... well I will probably change the tank and the pickup anyway is there any benefit to having a seperate return line?
The return line is to prevent vapour lock when the temps are high...so if the body is still off put the return line in and decide later...the tank pick-up will have a second fitting if you want to go that way...and get the fuel pump to match the pick-up...two lines or single line...
thanks..
Yes I think that is the safe route too, just get the pickups and pump to match the lines.. seems all the "big Block" cars had em and it is so much easier to do now.
