Exhaust smell in car

So I had an exhaust smell that would come in when the windows were down driving. As much as I like some 100LL smell, I didn't want to smell like it after I got done driving. I was looking at my trunk seal and it was soft so I adjusted the latch, not much change.
I then added some foam tape to see if it was crushing down and it stopped the smell.
Ordered a new seal and of course I figured out the issue after it showed up. I couldn't see the tree in the forest when i was trying to figure it out...bangs head. The original had been installed incorrect...lol
After I pulled it out, I compared it to the new one and although slightly different I installed the new one. Even after checking the old one when installed correct position, thought maybe it had been squashed a little in certain areas.
Anyways I hope it fixes the issue, snowing again so I can't test it today.
Check your seal if you get the smell with windows down...ugh

incorrectly installed seal

used seal flipped position

New Seal

Yeah, pictures make it so evident, I had to double take though from the first one to the second and third.

Besides the seal, your motor is probably tuned too rich

I hope the new seal works well. Where did you get the new trunk seal and what kind of Oldsmobile do you have?

Could be, ill be tuning it up again soon, it does use some oil. know the valve stem seals stick which could be part of it. I found it was rebuilt with the rubber seals when i popped off a valve cover.
