Exhaust Options for 67 Cutlass
Exhaust Options for 67 Cutlass
I am looking for recommendations for dual exhaust for my 67 Cutlass Holiday Coupe. It has a 330/2-barrel. I didn't have much success looking online for a bolt on kit that goes to the exhaust manifolds. Seems like most were kits that bolt to headers, which I am not planning on putting on. Since it's the low HP motor I was thinking of 2" or 2 1/4" pipes. I plan on using Magnaflow mufflers on the exhaust.
I am also debating on having a local muffler shop make an exhaust vs me buying a bolt on kit.
Thx!

I did send them an inquiry. The guy did say in the reply that they can build a show quality exhaust. I will probably call him just to know for sure but it sounds like it's going to be too pricy for what I'm doing with my car.
Why do you need a show quality exhaust? I used my local muffler shop and he fabricated a complete true dual 2.5 inch exhaust for a reasonable price from headers to the rear bumper. Used aluminumized pipe and dynomax mufflers.
I have there exh on my car [stainless] 66 442 $1800.00
I don't need or want a show quality. I was just sharing what the guy from Gardner Exhaust sent to me. It's definitely not what I need for my car. Aluminized pipe would be perfect for me. I'll get ahold of a local shop, too, and see what they have to say. Thx!
Yup, they are still around. In fact, I had saved one of their exhaust systems in my "Watchlist" on Ebay but I didn't pay attention to the Seller's name until you mentioned them. Thx!
UPDATE:
I'm going to have a local exhaust shop install an exhaust for me. From what I have read (here and other Cutlass sites) is considering that I have a 330 2-barrel and no intensions of making it "high performance" I don't need to go any bigger than 2 1/4" pipe.

Bolt on parts rarely actually bolt on as designed. Pypes and Ram Air Restoration both make down pipes that will connect the manifolds to an A body exhaust kit. Otherwise, take it to a shop, and let them bend one.
Excellent! Show us a pic or two when you get it installed.
Waldron is very good. On that car, I would probably pick my mufflers and go to a local shop if you have one and let them make the exhaust. I have had very good luck with two different shops. I used Waldron on the 54 Olds I had because it had power steering and the left side had some crazy bends. It fit perfectly. You can buy theirs with or without mufflers.
Start soaking the 6 exhaust pipe to manifold bolts repeatedly. An exhaust shop will use a hot wrench but everything done now to loosen them reduces the chance of a broken bolt or damaged manifold. Also put penetrating oil on the heat riser valve shaft if equipped..
You could also source new quality replacement bolts now so it gets "the good stuff".
If you can, please post a video/audio clip of the results and let us know which mufflers were used.
