Exhaust sound?
Exhaust sound?
I have a 1967 Cutlass Supreme with 330 engine. Converting to dual exhaust. I have Thornton’s 350JR exhaust manifolds ready to go on soon.
Found a complete factory type aluminized dual exhaust on eBay. $430 plus shipping
Has anyone here installed it? Possibly have a sound clip? OR a sound clip of a factory dual exhaust on this car?
Originally wanted loud lol but the wife talked me out of it. So looking for mellow lol

Like the others have said that's a pretty tame system, it has 2 1/4" pipes with 2" tails. Small if your planning a 455 swap in the future per your previous thread. I have Walker Dynomax Superturbos on my car and its pretty mellow until you stomp on the loud peddle.

Back in the late '70's I had a '67 330/320hp with a factory floor mounted 3-speed and a 3:23 posi. Not much of a rubber burner off the line but that car was as fast or faster than my 396 Nova, 383 Super Bee, or 351 Cobra Jet on the highway. 60-100 mph was incredible. It still had the original factory duals on it, and it was Cadillac quiet. The advise about the Dynomax Super Turbo's is spot on. Not loud, just a nice muscle car sound. Food for thought- for about $70 more than the $430( + $100 shipping) 2.25/2" ebay system, you can get a 2.5" Flowmaster system with no mufflers (#17107), a pair of 14" Super Turbo's (17734), and the Pypes Olds downtubes (DOF10S) to connect to the 350JR manifolds from http://classicmusclecarexhaust.com/.
It doesn't help you much as it seems you've already purchased the exhaust, but I recently bought a 2.5" header-back aluminized dual exhaust from Jegs (Jegs store brand) with whatever turbo mufflers were included. I'll be hooking it up to a set of Thornton shorties in the coming weeks, and would be happy to send you a sound clip. I mention it because the system was $220, plus the currently listed 20% off code and free shipping. This is for a completely different car and engine than yours, a 350 SBO in an '86 442, so I don't know what a system would price out for your car, but would be worth a look if you want to save a few doll-hairs.

and will look into the Jegs also.
I would love to hear a clip of your exhaust.
X2 on the super turbos. Also check around Your area for a good muffler shop that will custom fit the exhaust pipes to your mufflers. Might be a little more expensive but I've seen threads on here where the pre-bent systems don't fit right and need some massaging.
(Friday). Sunday is points and condenser on the Wisconsin I swapped into my old Bolens, so hoping by mid February. I'll need to custom-fit some parts of the exhaust to meet the Thorntons on my car (G-body), so I'm not going to rush it, and won't touch it without the mini-lift. Just giving you my time-line, in case you wanted/needed a sound clip "right now."
I’m literally in the midst of some exhaust replacement on the kid’s red car, had to wait overnight for some band clamps to arrive @ NAPA. Existing Hooker SBO Comp headers to Pypes 2.5” X pipe. After 11 CT winters he’s due for mufflers so we’re replacing his long case Dynomax Super Turbos with the same thing & replacing the Pypes tailpipes due to them being welded. Pypes turned out to be a PITA when I tried to buy just tailpipes from them, I even offered to buy 2 sets & just keep a spare pair for my blue car as they’re at least 15 years old.
Sooo, we bought the Flowmaster stainless tailpipipes. Will button things up today but at this point the tailpipes look like they’ll fit nicely with notched bumper & they are nicely made. One reason I posted is that my experience is that 14” mufflers are too loud for my taste, I always lean towards the long case (20”?) as I think the sound & noise level are “nicer.” Make no mistake - deep (for X pipe), rich muscle sound but no drone or obnoxiousness, & sound great at wide throttle openings. As we know exhaust sound is very subjective but I figure my 2 cents won’t hurt.
Walker Dynomax Super Turbo 2.5 x 2.5 (Offset) x 20” #17749
Flowmaster 2.5” Stainless Tailpipes #815802
Stainless 2.5” Band Clamps for muff inlets
Walker 2.5” x 1” Band Clamps for muff outlets # 36438
