Anyone have a remedy for taking the emergency brake cable out of the firewall on a 71' A body? I tried sliding a 9/16 12 point socket over it and i tried pliers. No luck.
I'm guessing you're replacing it?.
Can you get in there with some bolt cutters and simply chop through it?.
Having said that, the clamp looks like a good idea.
Roger I'm in the process of tearing it down for a frame off resto. Not sure what I can still get so I'd rather not destroy anything if it can be avoided. I had a tread someplace but it was moved to newbe and I can't find it so I haven't posted any pics. I think it was something called ''1971 442 back from the Abyss''.
Joe I have four weeknesses, Women, Beer, Oldsmobiles and tools. First one was shut down 15 years ago when I got married, the next I shut down last year for a few reasons, mostly weight going on not off and the last 2 have increased dramatically since I got back into cars. So you've just contributed to my tool habit. So it's your fault because I will be getting one of those. Seriously thanks for the reply.
As always this site is a great help. I saw a few speciality tools in the Fisher body manual, wonder how many of those I can still get.

The Kent Moore tools show up on ebay all the time. I've written search scripts to look for the ones I want. When all the dealerships closed a few years ago, there were at ton of them on ebay. I loaded up at the time.

I think the 12-pt socket was part of the problem, I used a 6-point deep well (on the rear backing plates too) just fine. A little WD-40 helps too.
