77 = body type = sports coupe (two door with a post)
8 = model year = 1968
M = assembly plant = Lansing MI
394250 = assembly plant sequential number
If you have the info or a pic of the trim tag (on the cowl, driver side, under the hood), that will tell a little more info, like build date, original interior color and front seat type, and the original lower and upper body colors, and possibly some options that originally came on the car.
