So I have a 69 442 holiday cp. Canadian built. I have the vintage vehicle report . The car has options JL2/ G80/G88 3.91 axle so I read that on Canadian built cars with chevy 12 bolt rears didn't get 3.91 ratio instead they got 3.73 ratio so my question is why on the report it says 3.91 ? also I cant find what the axle code is supposed to be with the 3.73 with the JL2 option. I have reached out to vehicle services but got no answers. any help would be great TIA.
This is the 68 chart for all Canadian rears ends. I'm sure someone can post 69. The REV1 note states that the rear assembly wasn't built in Canada but, I assume, that doesn't mean it wasn't used there.
Thanks v8AL for your quick response, being I have the JL2 option wouldn't the Tn be in that column as well??
I don't know. The JL2 breakout only seems to be listed with Type "O" differentials and not with the Chevy 12 bolts. You need to get a copy of the 1969 PIM.
What code is on your differential?
The orig rear is gone .I just think its weird that my vintage report from Canada says 3.91 ratio when it was never offered. and the guy I talked to said all the books are wrong and if the report says 3.91 thats what it came with. he also couldn't tell me the axle code. something is off here. it cant be that complicated. just want to know whats correct for the car.
I know this is a 69 thread but the 68 Canadian PIM chart I posted above has a 3:91 and the REV2 note states:
"The required component parts to complete this axle assembly are shown on sheets 4 and 5. (Lansing Built Assembly)"
Sheets 4 and 5 of the PIM were domestic (US built) rear end charts
I've always understood that Oshawa used Chevy rears but, if I understand the 68 PIM correctly, there were some gear rear ends supplied to Oshawa that were from Lansing.
Is this correct?
