97 88 LS Brake lights

97 88 LS Brake lights

Replaced the bulbs
The Blinks work and the hazards work fine
Nothing happen when I hit the brake for lights
I have replaced the brake switch twice in the past 3 years
Not sure what is going on.
Please help!!

Do you have power to the switch? If so, may be another bad switch.

And, do you get power out of the switch?
If not, it's a bad brake light switch. If yes, I think the next component down the line would be the turn signal switch.

Could also be the multifunction switch. Used to replace those all the time in GMs of that era. Thats the turn signal switch assembly.

Unfortunately, you'll have to find one in the salvage yard if it's bad. This is also the cruise control and wiper switches. It gets quite a bit of use as I remember from my 96 98.

yes power goes out
So looks like it is pointing to the turn signal switch
Anyone have and good pointers in fixing that?
And links to get one?

Apparently, you can still get the innards of the switch that goes in the steering column from Rock Auto. I didn't see a listing for the stalk itself though.
