hi i have a 70 sx455 and im gettn ready 2 have my stock carb rebuilt but im not sure what carb 2 use, i just went threw all my extra parts that came with the car and i have 3 carbs two 7040251 and one 7040253, i do not have the w32 sx455 so i think my stock carb would be the 251 right?? or did the 253 come on all sx455's not just the w32?? i would hate 2 spend the money on the wrong carb!!! 1 more thing where is the date code at?? thanks again every1!!!!!!!

I am not sure about which number is correct, I thought it was 251 but someone else will chime in - the date code is next to the number it is under the two letter code of the factory that made the carb

should be the last digit of the year (9 or a 0) followed by the day of the year - 9302 would be a carb built the 302nd day of 1969

The 7040251 is the correct carb for your SX. If you haven't already, you should check out the SX club website for more info on these cars...

thanks you guys i thought it was the 251 carb!! now i got figure out the dates!!

i was a member of sx455.com a few years ago i stoped paying after 1 year because there wasnt enough activity it was hard 2 get a question answered
