power steering fluid leaking cap vent
Hello, anyone have an issue with power steering fluid coming out the vent of the cap? I haven't done anything recently nor have I added any fluid..

Have you turned the wheels while the engine was not running maybe ? sounds like maybe a line is partially plugged causing pressure to build up..is the fluid aerated [air bubbles in the fluid] causing a build up of pressure.. Does the steering act ok ?

Something is restricted or the return line is sucking in air, even if it shows no signs of leakage. The fact you are seeing it come out of the reservoir with air bubbles, really look at the return hose.. I would look here first.. I know that sounds strange but I have seen this many times.. keep us posted....

sorry for the delay, nothings clogged up so my only assumption is to much fluid. I drained some of the fluid yesterday. It's been pouring here the last 24hrs. Ill let you know in the next couple days..

Even if system is working, heat causes the PS fluid to expand, which can cause a burble or eruption out of the top pressure release valve if the fluid level is high enough.
The fix is get a cooler (heat exchanger) or run less fluid.
Wish I had better news.

NOT to beat this to death. I thought you had said that you never had any issues with this, so I assumed you never added any fluid to this in the first place ? [so how did this get so full ??] Which brings me back to >> is the return line sucking air into the system causing this to over flow ? Also as one post said, heat can also cause this as well, but that usually goes back to a blockage or relief valve in the pump. [MOST FOLKS JUST REPLACE THE ENTIRE PUMP IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM] [No need to however if just the valve] I do not think you need a cooler because this car never had one & has been good for all these years without one. You need to find the root cause.. keep us posted & of course good luck..I don't want to come across as a know it all, but I have had experience with this in the past. But maybe there is another issue that I never saw before.
