That's pretty much it. When you put it on the car the clear plastic for the decal will protect it from other damage. I don't know if this helps, but touch base with TK65 on this site. He did some window stickers for me and seems to have the right typewriter or printer to make these things.
I had one done for my car by a fellow on this site but I can't remember if it was TK65 or not. It turned out really nice, have a look

Jasen (TK) does an outstanding job on the window stickers and is also a great wealth of knowledge on this "type" of thing. I don't know if he does the door jamb VIN labels. I bought some blanks from Kryta (Inline Tube) and had my sister do the typing..... Thanks Sue. Good luck on finding a typewriter much less one with the right style of letters (font). There is a vendor on EBay that sells the labels AND will apply your car's pertinent information for about $30.00. I have not used that one and if the one pictured above IS from that vendor I'd say go that route. The one shown here looks good and the blanks are $12.00 empty from Inline. Hope this helps-----it is those "type" of little details (IMO) that tell me the owner went the extra mile on the resto.

No Charlie, it's actually a faded black, just like the factory would produce with the cloth ribbons. In 72 I don't think they had got around to bringing in the non re-usable carbon strip ribbons yet. My God, that goes back in time. I used to have a typewrite I could have used for this and I ended up turfing it years ago when I bought my second computer.

Door Jamb ID Number Decal
I got my '73 Omega on the road. Noticed the door jamb id number decal was missing. Was going to purchase one on ebay but wouldn't know what month to type on the decal. (of course finding a typewriter will be another big problem).
Is there a way to tell what month my car rolled out of the factory off the vin number?

Look on the cowl tag to see when your car was built. The '70 GTO had a build date of "10E", which is the 10th month of the year (October), 5th week of that month (E), which means the build bled into the first week of November 1969 so that's why the sticker says "11/69". If you buy a new sticker for your car, you can determine what date to put on the sticker by the build date on your cowl tag.
