83 Hurst - Door sticker and trunk sticker
Hi,
I am looking into purchasing a 83 Hurst. The driver side door sticker has no numbers. They either faded or got wiped etc. Should I be concerned about the car's authenticity? I am planning to check out the numbers in other areas. Also, did the 83 have a sticker in the trunk or no? This one does not. According to the owner, only 84s had the sticker. Thank you in advance.

door stickers
Hi,
You can get repro door stickers from Kirban Performance products in Plumsteadville, Pa. Go to their website & find the page with them on it.
They are licensed by GM, Ford, Chrysler to do correct repros. I have 2 of them on my door jam & they are perfect repros. for $127 including shipping.
Yours is an '83 so you may still have the mfg. plate under the hood for paint code, mfg. date code, etc. Stickers in the trunk are only option codes & jacking instructions. They went to exclusive door jamb stickers for this info. in '84.
I have an '84 Supreme & mine were gone due to repaint, so I used my dealer invoice (from GM Archives) for info. + the RE Olds Museum for correct month of mfg. Good luck, it may take you some research like I did.

The trunk sticker is known as an SPID (service parts identification) sticker and started in 1984, so the seller is not lying to you.
The drivers door sticker was not that durable, so it not being legible isn't an issue, especially on higher mileage cars. I'd be more worried about finding the W40 on the cowl tag, the '9' as the 8th digit of the VIN, OZ transmission, etc. There are plenty of other details that will be present on a real car.
You can get the vehicle invoice from GM history center for a price, can't remember what it cost me; that will give you an idea how it was optioned.
