1968 Two Speed Automatic

I was talking with a friend about the two speed automatic I pulled out of the 1968 Cutlass I am parting out and a few questions popped up.

1. How common was a two speed automatic in 1968?

2. What does the wire on the driver's side do?

3. Is there any value in this transmission?

I have the transmission, torque converter, floor shifter and console.

Thanks
Tom

Very. All auto 350s got it. (TH350 came out in '69)

2. What does the wire on the driver's side do?
Kickdown. Works off a switch on the acc pedal assy.

3. Is there any value in this transmission?
Only as an anchor or conversation piece. There are a few rare drag racers that use 'em.

I have the transmission, torque converter, floor shifter and console.
Console can be modded to work w/ 3 (& maybe 4) speed autos

Thanks
Tom

Shiftworks sells a kit for both the three speed AT conversion and the four speed AT conversion of the stock console shifter.

Thanks for all the input.

I have to admit, I know very little about the 67 and 68 I am currently parting out.

I'm still learning
