brake light
Year and carline?
Some years and models have a small gage wire running from battery (-) terminal to the fender or radiator core support.
Others have a metal grounding plate on the back side of the instrument panel.
Go underhood and you'll see a tan wire connected to the brake distribution block. Pull the wire off its connector and see if the light turns off. If it does there's a wiring issue between the block and the warning lamp.
Then look at the parking brake assembly underdash. You'll see another tan wire connected to a plunger switch on there. Jiggle that wire and switch and see what the lamp does. That will isolate the switch as a cause of the dim glow.
